METS UTILITY OPERATOR




UTILITY OPERATOR METS

Incumbent serves as Maintenance Utility person for the Metropolitan Evansville Transit System.
 
DUTIES

  • Performs minor maintenance on all METS equipment.
  • Replaces light bulbs, hoses, belts, etc.
  • Monitors fluid levels on all METS vehicles and changes or replenishes fluids when necessary.
  • Cleans vehicles, equipment and facilities as necessary or required.
  • Assists with exchange of buses between terminals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with proper endorsements.
  • Ability to use standard garage equipment; i.e. hydraulic jacks, pressure washers, scrubbers, bus washer, lubrication and fluid equipment.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to fill out routine maintenance reports and read and understand driver defect cards to facilitate repairs.
  • Requires sufficient physical strength and agility to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must demonstrate sufficient judgment to not go beyond the technical requirements of the job classifications.

 
RESPONSIBILITY

  • Performs work within existing policies and procedures.
  • Required to follow contract terms and METS rules and regulations dealing with shop safety, and satisfactory work parameters.
  • Errors in judgment can lead to injury to self or others and damage to equipment.
  • Receives general instruction on a variety of moderately complex tasks.
